Before colonialism took place in the period of New Imperialism, Medical Care in Malaya was restricted to various traditional remedies, antidotes etc. There was a lack of consistent safe drinking water supply, and diseases like Cholera were widespread due to inattention to hygiene. Death rate was relatively high.
The foreign influx saw an introduction of many western and modern health techniques. Stable pipes and well-equipped hospitals were built, and the general living conditions improved by leaps and bounds. More importantly, the westerners were willing to share their medical expertise with Malayan natives, through activities like remedy research.
Today, at the heart of South-East Asia sits a nation that boasts many high-end hospitals that provide excellent medical service. Moreover, doctors and nurses there are well-educated with certification from various top US and UK universities. They provide you with a peace of mind and a sense of well-being, whilst being
vigilant and staying constantly on their toes to combat any viral pandemic threats, like Swine Influenza.
